Grain boundary segregation in deuterium-doped Ti, Nb and Ni, investigation by Auger-spectroscopy method

  • 1. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst. Natsional'noj Akademii Nauk Respubliki Kazakhstan, Almaty (Kazakstan)

Description

The impurity segregations influence is one of the actual modern problems in material testing. The connection between inclination to hydrogen embrittlement of the niobium, the titanium (with additives of the Zr and the Mo) and the nickel and the grain boundary segregation. The samples were saturated of deuterium in the electrolytic cell and fractured by way stretching under room temperature in the chamber of special Auger electron spectroscopy. The structure of brittle destruction surface has been defined by Auger spectroscopy method. It was defined essential intensification of embrittlement in the cases when preceding thermal treatment conducted to segregation on grain boundaries of impurities C and S. Besides that by X-ray diffraction method the change of crystal-graphic surface orientation of samples diluting by deuterium (for niobium). The formation of surface phases in the complex segregations of the sulfur-deuterium and of the carbon-deuterium is supposed too
