General solution for polarized radiation in a homogeneous-slab atmosphere

Description
The Transfer Matrix Method is extended to problems of radiative transfer in homogeneous-slab atmospheres in which the transmission and reflection operators are not the same for radiation incident from one side as from the other. This occurs for the azimuthally asymmetric components of the Stokes parameters U and V for polarized light. Physical interpretations of the various operators in the theory are given.
