Neutron stars are of great interest, not only to astronomers, but also to physicists, since they represent the densest form of matter which is available to observation. In addition, they possess the strongest magnetic fields known to exist, Exceeding the strongest laboratory field by a factor of one million. The present chapter concentrates on this aspect of neutron stars, and on its implications for accreting sources. (author)
