Description
Arsenazo III gives highly sensitive colour reactions with a large number of metal ions. The colour reaction between uranium(VI) and arsenazo III at a pH of around 5.5 provides a sufficiently sensitive and selective method for the determination of uranium if diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA), which does not appreciably inhibit the reaction, is used as a masking agent. The application of the method to some rock samples is described in this paper. (author)
