Grain boundary inventories of krypton in Candu fuel

Description
The 85Kr grain boundary inventory (GBI) was measured for ten CANDU power reactor fuel rods, with peak linear power ratings between 26 and 58 kW/m. Samples were cut from central, mid-radial and peripheral locations in the fuel pellets. Peripheral GBI values were less than 5%, while the GBI of most central samples was less than 50% of the 85Kr remaining in the sample, giving volume-average GBI values in the range 1% to 9%. The results will be used in validation of fission product distribution models in steady state and transient fuel performance codes. (authors)
