The 773 K isothermal section of the Sm-Co-Si ternary system

Description
The phase equilibria and phase relationships in the ternary Sm-Co-Si system at 773 K were investigated mainly by means of X-ray diffraction. The isothermal section at 773 K of the system has been established. A new ternary compound, SmCo9Si4 has been found. It has a tetragonal structure with a space group of I4/mcm, a=0.77770(5) nm, c=1.15029(7) nm. There are 30 three-phase regions in this isothermal section. There are seven ternary compounds SmCoSi, SmCoSi2, SmCoSi3, SmCo0.4Si1.6, SmCo2Si2, SmCo9Si2 and SmCo9Si4. (orig.)
