Thermodynamic modeling of the Pd-Y system
Description
The Pd-Y system was critically assessed using the CALPHAD technique. The solution phases (liquid, b.c.c., f.c.c. and h.c.p.) were modeled using the Redlich-Kister equation. The intermetallic compounds Pd3Y and PdY, which have a homogeneity range, were treated as the phases MPd3 and MY, respectively, by a two-sublattice model with Pd in MPd3 and Y in MY on one sublattice and M on the other, where M is used as an abbreviation for a mixture of Pd and Y; the others as stoichiometric compounds. A set of self-consistent thermodynamic parameters of the Pd-Y system was obtained. (orig.)
