A description of particle transport in an extrap Z-pinch
Description
The particle transport equation for the Extrap configuration is discussed incorporating a fluid model including a neutral component. Boundary conditions for the discharge current density, the cross-field particle losses and the plasma density are presented. The friction between the neutral and plasma fluids introduces a parallel component to the hydrodynamic velocities. This effect as well as the effects of the magnetic nulls at the x-points of the separatrix are discussed. (Author)
