Variational approach to model the depth dependence of radiogenic heat in the crust

A quadratic functional criterion for the mathematical modelling of crustal radiogenic heat and heat flux is utilized. Following the classical variational analysis it is inferred that the exponential law of the depth dependence of radiogenic heat is the optimal model
