Electrochemical synthesis of sodium hexamethoxyniobate

Description
Anodic dissolution of niobium in anhydrous methanol in the presence of sodium methylate was studied. Sodium hexamethoxyniobate, NaNb(OMe)6, has been synthesized by electrochemical method for the first time. A method for recovery of niobium methylate from sodium hexamethoxyniobate was developed. It is shown that pure niobium methoxide, Nb(OMe)5, can be isolated as a result of reaction between NaNb(OMe)6 formed and ammonium chloride. Water soluble hydroxo complex NaNb(OH)6 forms upon hydrolysis of NaNb(OMe)6
Abstract (Russian)
Изучен процесс анодного растворения ниобия в безводном метаноле на фоне метилата натрия. Впервые электрохимическим способом синтезирован гексаметоксиниобат натрия NaNb(OMe)6. Найден способ выделения метилата ниобия из гексаметоксиниобата натрия. Показано, что в результате реакции образовавшегося NaNb(OMe)6 с хлористым аммонием может быть выделен чистый метоксид ниобия Nb(OMe)5. При гидролизе NaNb(OMe)6 образуется растворимый в воде гидроксокомплекс NaNb(OH)6Additional details
