Description
The photoabsorption spectrum of neutral chlorine has been photographed for the first time in the wavelength region 400-700 A, the absorbing atomic vapour being produced by means of the flash-pyrolysis technique. Nine autoionizing resonances have been observed and identified as forming a series arising from the excitation of the inner 3s electron. The agreement with theoretical results is discussed. (orig.)
