Evaluation of void fraction under stagnant liquid flow condition for tight lattice bundle

  • 1. Hitachi Ltd., Tokyo (Japan)

Description

A tight lattice bundle is investigated as one candidate of the future light water reactor concepts. Void fractions under atmospheric pressure and stagnant liquid flow conditions for a tight lattice bundle of 4mm hydraulic diameter were measured and the parameters for the correlation based on the drift-flux model were obtained. The evaluated void fraction based on the obtained results agreed with the data within 0.022 of standard deviation for less than 80% of void fraction range. The effect of the hydraulic diameter on the parameters of the drift-flux model was also investigated, and the same tendencies between tube geometry and bundle geometry were shown. (author)
