Anisotropic diffuse x-ray scattering in early transition metal oxide structures

Description
Occurrences of strongly anisotropic diffuse scattering in planes of reciprocal space are reported for early transition metal oxides of the titanite and pyrochlore structure types. The diffuse scattering sheets are compared to corresponding observations in KNbO3 and BaTiO3. Possible structural models are discussed in relation to existing models of the diffuse scattering effects in these perovskite ferroelectrics
