An investigation report of the uranium deposits in Hongcheon area, north-east of Seoul, Korea

Description

An area of 128km2 in the Gapyong-Yangpyong uranium belt is investigated for uranium by geological mapping and ground radiometric survey. The geology of the area consists of unconformably contacted banded gneiss group, quartzite group and augen gneiss group from bottom to top. They are then intruded by granitic rocks in three different periods. Although the area has large structural basin at the center, the gross structure resembles more likely to the Escola's gneiss dome. The evidence directing to this concept is numererous. (Author)
