Study on the influence of precipitation conditions on the thermal decomposition of thorium oxalate
- 1. Fuel Chemistry Division, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam (India)
Description
Thermal decomposition of thorium oxalate precipitates derived through different precipitation conditions was investigated using TG (thermogravimetric analysis) as well as SDTA (simultaneous differential thermal analysis). The results revealed that ultrasonication reduces the particle size while the degree of hydration of the thorium oxalate is governed by the medium of precipitation. Both the factors influence the decomposition pattern of thorium oxalate. (author)
