Description

The γ-ray transition energies of 26Al(1058 → 228 keV), 27Al(2982 → 0 keV) and 55Co(2566 → 0 keV) have been determined to be 829.429 ± 0.025, 2982.00 ± 0.05 and 2565.789 ± 0.035 keV respectively. The excited states were indirectly produced via resonant proton-capture reactions and de-excited by γ-ray emission. The γ-rays were observed with a precisely located Ge(Li) detector that was energy calibrated with standard radioactive sources. The results are of particular importance to the precise determination of relative QEC values for superallowed 0+ → 0+ β-emitters. (orig.)
