The Small unit water-cooled nuclear reactors (offshore): the Russian KLT-40S reactor as an example

Description

There are six water cooled small modular reactors (marine based) in the world, according to the IAEA publication, these are : the Russian KLT-40S reactor which is in operation stage, the Russian RITM-200M reactor which is under development stage, the Chinese ACPR-50S reactor which is under conceptual design stage, the Russian ABV-6E reactor which is in the final design stage, the Russian VBER-300 reactor which is under licensing stage and the Russian SHELF reactor which is under the detailed design stage. This article focuses on the technological development and technical specifications of the Russian KLT-40S reactor, precisely as an example of the water cooled small modular reactors (marine based).
