Process for testing the dimensions of a fuel element for nuclear reactors
Description
To determine the spacing between all the fuel rods, it is provided for sensors to be driven in from the side into the spaces between the fuel rods. One row of fuel rods is situated between the fingers of the sensors. The free ends of the fingers carry ultrasonic test heads on the opposite sides, where one test head acts as transmitter and one test head acts as receiver. During sensor movement along a row of fuel rods, there is continuous ultrasonic sounding. The height and/or width of the amplitude of a section of water between the transmitter and the receiver test head are used to determine the spacing (see also OS DE 3542204, PS DE 3150249). (orig./HP)

Zur Bestimmung des Abstandes zwischen allen Brennstaeben ist vorgesehen, dass Sonden von der Seite her in die Raeume zwischen den Brennstaeben eingefahren werden. Dabei ist jeweils eine Brennstabreihe zwischen den Fingern der Sonde angeordnet. Die freien Fingerenden tragen an gegenueberliegenden Seiten Ultraschallpruefkoepfe, wobei jeweils ein Pruefkopf als Sender und ein Pruefkopf als Empfaenger wirkt. Waehrend der Sondenbewegung entlang einer Brennstabreihe wird kontinuierlich beschallt. Dabei wird die Hoehe und/oder Breite einer der Wasserstrecke zwischen Sende- und Empfaengerpruefkopf zugeordneten Amplitude zur Bestimmung des Abstandes verwendet.
