Demonstration of safeguards technology at the Russian Institute of experimental physics (VNIIEF), Arzama-16

This paper contains information on joint activity of scientists and specialists of the Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Russian Nuclear Center VNIIEF (Arzamas-16) on improving the fissile material control and accounting (MC ampersand A) system. Efforts leading up to the demonstration model are outlined, and a description of the developed system is given. The work was completed in February of 1995 with a demonstration. The demonstration showed the workability and effectiveness of the model during normal working conditions and during disruptions of the technological process
