Health physics experience at the multi-purpose research reactor

Description
Experience in health physics at the Multi-Purpose Research Reactor MZFR during its 18 years of operation is reported. A special health physics problem with a heavy-water reactor is the steadily increasing tritium content. The incorporation of tritium had to be considered for internal radiation exposure. The total dose by external radiation and tritium incorporation for the personnel involved was 41,54 Sv. The total activity released through the exhaust stack was 6x1014 Bq tritium and 4,1x1014 Bq noble gases. All other radioactive nuclids in the exhaust air were negligible. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Es wird ueber die wichtigsten Erfahrungen beim Strahlenschutz am Mehrzweckforschungsreaktor waehrend seiner 18jaehrigen Betriebszeit berichtet. Als spezifisches Strahlenschutzproblem tritt bei einem Schwerwasserreaktor der staendig steigende Tritiumgehalt auf. Die Tritium-Inkorporationen mussten bei der Strahlenbelastung mit beruecksichtigt werden. Die Gesamtstrahlenbelastung durch aeussere Strahlung und durch Tritium-Inkorporation betrug fuer das eingesetzte Personal 41,54 Sv. Ueber den Abluftkamin wurden insgesamt 6.1014 Bq Tritium und 4,1.1014 Bq Edelgase abgegeben. Alle anderen radioaktiven Nuklide in der Abluft waren dagegen vernachlaessigbar. (orig.)Additional details
