Effect of residual stresses on fatigue strength of structural steels and alloys with surface defects
- 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev (Ukrainian SSR). Inst. Problem Prochnosti
Description
Influence of small surface defects on fatigue strength of structural metals subjected to torsion and round bending is investigated. It is shown that both the technological residual stresses and the stresses being in the material after the damage caused are the main factors contributing to evaluation of fatigue failure resistance characteristics
