Use of U.V. emissions in TL dating of sediments

Description

A TL dating program has been carried out on 42 sediments from NW Europe. Accumulated doses have been measured by the natural regeneration method applied to ultraviolet emissions from fine-grain fractions. The assumption that TL sensitivity is not altered by bleaching (here performed with an Oriel solar simulator) has been tested for each sediment. Individual discs were normalised by the zero-glow method. The residual levels, regeneration curves and plateaux show similar behaviours throughout the range of sediments. Signal stability imposes an upper limit of 50 ka on the age range of datable material. (author)
