Non-relativistic binding energies for heavy ions
Description
The connection established between 1/Z perturbation theory and the Thomas-Fermi energy ETF(Z,N) for heavy ions with N electrons by March and White (1972) has been developed quantitatively by Dmitrieva and Plindov (1975). Their work is adapted here to yield the approximate analytical expression for 0<N/Z<or=1. A similar approximate formula is given for the exchange energy.
