Gallium effect on surface activity of REM in aluminium base alloys

Description

Gallium effect on the surface activity of REM in alloys with aluminium is experimentally studied. REM surface activity increase in the presence of gallium, resulted from the formation on the surface of certain atomic compound type groupings is ascertained. The highest increase of Sm, Eu and Yb surface activity in the gallium presence is connected with anomalous values of their atom electronegativity in the REM series, conditioning the change of surface grouping electronic configuration
