Conduction on acceptor states in Hgsub(1-x)Mnsub(x)Fe in high magnetic fields

  • 1. AN SSSR, Sverdlovsk. Inst. Fiziki Metallov

Description

Longitudinal rhosub(ZZ) and transverse rhosub(xx) magnitoresistances and the Hall coefficient have been measured in magnetic fields B up to 300 kgf at helium and nitrogen temperatures on Hgsub(1-x)Mnsub(x)Te (x=0.02-0.073) gapless crystals. Exponential growth of both rhosub(ZZ) and rhosub(xx) which results from the change in conduction on acceptor states under the effect of the magnetic field, is observed in all the investigated specimens in fields B>100 kgf at T<=4.2 K. In strong magnetic fields B>100-200 kgf the impurity conduction becomes jump-like and the character of the change rho(B, T) agrees with the predictions of the Shklovsky and Efros theory
