Crystallohydrates of gadolinium sulfite

Description

Hydrated gadolinium sulfites of Gd2(SO3)3xnH2O(n=3 or 6) composition were obtained by letting gaseous SO2 through gadolinia aqueous suspension followed by vacuum crystallization at various temperatures. Thermal stability of the compounds has been studied. The species were identified by means of infrared spectroscopy, chemical, crystal-optical and X-ray phase analyses
