Description
Linear electromagnetic waves are considered in a current-carrying Vlasov plasma with ion β>approximately 1 and wavenumbers greater than the reciprocal ion Larmor radius. The resultant instabilities have substantially lower thresholds than the electrostatic ion acoustic instability. (Auth.)
