Observation of fluorescence from the excited atom cluster produced by irradiation with atomic-molecular photophysics extreme ultraviolet free-electron laser light derived from a short-wavelength free-electron laser

Description
Extreme ultraviolet free-electron laser light, which is an extremely efficient photoionization and excitation source, enables the generation of high-density ions or excited atom cluster. High-density ions and excited atom cluster are expected to behave very differently from dilute systems. However, due to the high density, the influence of space charge effect is large, so charged particles cannot be used as probes. The authors focused on fluorescence relaxation, and observed the behavior of high-density excited atoms and rare gas clusters induced by extreme ultraviolet free-electron laser light. This paper introduces these results. (A.O.)

極めて高効率な光イオン化・励起源である極紫外自由電子レーザー光は,高密度のイオンや励起原子集団の生成を可能にする.高密度のイオンや励起原子集団は,希薄な系とは大きく異なる挙動を示すことが期待されるが,高密度ゆえに空間電荷効果の影響が大きく,荷電粒子はプローブとして使えない.我々は,蛍光緩和に注目し,極紫外自由電子レーザー光が誘起する高密度の励起原子,および希ガス・クラスターの挙動を観測した.本稿では,それらの結果について紹介する.(著者)Additional details
