Description

The influence of different helium concentrations on deuterium sorption characteristics of the system MmNisub(4.5)Alsub(0.5)-D2 (Mm = misch metal) was investigated using the gas volumetric method. Absorption and desorption of deuterium were induced by cycling the temperature of the absorbent between 286 K and 348.5 K. An increase in the initial helium partial pressure resulted in a decreased deuterium sorption rate. The helium effect was more pronounced for the absorption than for the desorption process. No dependence of the equilibrium data (deuterium pressure, deuterium capacity) on the initial helium concentration could be detected. (Auth.)
