The West Valley Demonstration Project is a reality. The WVNS staff is essentially up to the full strength anticipated for FY 82. The West Valley Nuclear Services, Co., in intimate cooperation with the Department of Energy, is actively and intensely engaged in the frontend engineering, as well as the planning, scheduling and budgeting for the West Valley Demonstration Project to achieve a cost-effective and early demonstration of commercial high-level waste immobilization to assist in demonstrating in this country that the back end of the nuclear fuel cycle can be safely and successfully closed
