Description
Limited telemetry-bandwidth usually restricts the number of channels of particle radiation detectors and the resolution of particle spectrometers. This paper gives a new data compression scheme, namely quasi-logarithmic data expression, to reduce the data storage space, so as to lessen communication rooms. Logarithmic coordinate is often used to analyze data of the radiation in space. As a result, relative precision is more important than absolute precision. The quasi-logarithmic data expression can decrease data space with little relative error in reasonable amount not to impact the physical meaning of the data. (authors)
