Monte Carlo research activities performed in special research committee of Atomic Energy Society of Japan

Description
Special Research Committee on Monte Carlo method was established in Atomic Energy Society of Japan in 1998, and its succeeding committee had been active until September, 2010. The objectives of the committee are 1) to investigate the current status of Monte Carlo methods in nuclear engineering field, 2) to identify problems to be solved in Monte Carlo methods, and eventually 3) to offer productive guidelines for further development in Monte Carlo methods. This paper outlines the 12-year accomplishments by the Committee and its contributions to Monte Carlo research activities. (author)
