The management of malignant esophageal strictures by covered-stent

Description

Objective: To evaluate domestic covered-stent implantation in the management of malignant esophageal stricture. methods: In total 53 patients, 37 males and 16 females, aged 41-82 years (62.4 years old in average) were enrolled in the study. There were 48 cases of esophageal carcinoma, 5 cases of carcinoma at cardia. The intervention was performed under the guidance of fluoroscopy. Results: Implantation was successful in every case. Palliation of dysphagia excellent in 100% cases. The esophageal-tracheal and esophageal-mediastinal fistula were sealed successfully in single intervention. Conclusion: The esophageal stent is an effective treatment for malignant esophageal strictures
