Outline of 'The Long-Term Program for Research, Development and Utilization of Nuclear Energy', revised in 1994
Description
The Japanese activities on peaceful uses of nuclear energy have been executed and promoted based on 'The Long-Term Program for Research, Development and Utilization of Nuclear Energy' issued by the Atomic Energy Commission, which has been revised every about five years. The latest revision work was started in 1992, with many factors as background such as the recent progress in nuclear activities, the serious anxiety about the degradation of global environment, the dramatic change in world situation after the cold-war scheme, as well as the growing concern on nuclear proliferation problems. The 1994 version of the Long-Term Program was completed and issued in June 1994, which will give us a clear perspective of the framework of Japanese nuclear program and its role in the coming decades and beyond.
