Bone scan artefact in two paediatric patients

Description
In this article, the authors describe unexplained uptake of bone scan agents (Tc-99 MDP and Tc-99 HDP) into the radius of two different paediatric patients. The aim is to alert Nuclear Medicine professionals to the possibility of injection related artefacts in paediatric bone scan patients, and to seek a possible explanation for the artefacts. The abnormal uptake is proximal to the intravenous injection, and is presumably related to the administration of the bone scan agent
