Investigation of the magnetic field structure in the Z pinches

Description
Results of an experimental investigation into magnetic field space structure in plasma of Z-pinches, produced under explosion of thin metal wires used as the load for a fast intense-current generator, are presented. Investigation into magnetic fields is conducted by Faraday rotation of the probing laser radiation polarization plane at 532 nm wave length with 3 ns pulse duration. It is shown that practically complete exclusion of current from stretching to the pinch periphery occurs during instability development m = 0. 46 refs., 10 figs
