At the symposium, lectures were given on uranium enrichment, on the present state and future of uranium enrichment in the world, the start of operation of Rokkasho enrichment plant, the development of laser enrichment technology by atomic process and molecular process, on fuel reprocessing, the development of demonstration FBR, plutonium thermal use, the advancement of reprocessing process, and the annihilation treatment of TRU nuclides using FBR, exclusive burning reactor and accelerator, and on radioactive waste, the safety assessment of waste disposal and trend in various countries, the present state and trend of radioactive waste disposal in Japan and foreign countries, the present state and trend of the research on high level radioactive waste disposal, and the management of waste by nuclear facility dismantling.
