Description
246 superconducting quadrupoles of ten different kinds have to be built for the HERA proton machine at DESY. After several prototypes have been made and tested in the SACLAY laboratory the mass fabrication has been committed to industry. Three different European films have been selected to build both the magnets and their cryostats. The technology transfer from laboratory to industry, the fabrication control, and the results on first made magnets are described in the paper. After some times of low rate fabrication called preseries the films are now working with higher rate so that all magnets are now working with higher rate so that all magnets are delivered to DESY by the spring of 1989
