Monitoring method for material of reactor container
Description
The present invention provides a method of monitoring aging change of materials of a reactor container by measuring a hardness of materials of actual container utilizing a fact that there is satisfactory relationship between the degree of aging change (degree of embrittlement) and the hardness. Namely, the present invention comprises following steps: (1) a step of removing a portion of coatings on the inner surface of the reactor container, (2) a step of abrading the surface exposed by the removal of the coatings, (3) a step of measuring the hardness of the abraded surface, (4) a step of determining the change of the hardness based on comparison with a hardness measured previously, (5) a step of determining the degree of embrittlement of the materials of the reactor container based on the relationship between the degree of embrittlement and the hardness and (6) a step of recovering the removed coatings on the inner surface. According to the method, the aging change of the materials of a reactor core region of a reactor container can be monitored more frequently than before thereby enabling to complement monitoring and tests.
