Calculation of gas heating by fission fragments in a pulsed reactor channel
Creators
Description
Results of numerical calculation of nonstationary temperature distribution in a plane channel of a pulsed nuclear reactor, filled with an immobile gas (helium, neon, argon) are given. The channel walls are made of graphite 5 mm thick or stainless steel 0.5 mm thick. The gas is heated as a result of moderating the fission fragments escaping from fuel layers applied to the internal surface of the channel walls. It is shown that gas heating by fission fragments is characterized by quite complex temperature changes both in space and in time. It must be taken into account when analyzing experimental data
