Charge state fractions of lead ions formed in one-electron capture collisions by fast H+ and He2+ ions

  • 1. Department of Pure and Applied Physics, The Queens University of Belfast, Belfast BT7 1NN (United Kingdom)

Description

A crossed beam coincidence counting technique incorporating time of flight analysis of target charged products has been used to measure the charge state fractions of slow multiply charged Pbq+ ions formed in one-electron capture by H+ and He2+ ions in single collisions with ground state Pb atoms within the energy range 50-600keV amu-1. An attempt has been made to describe the measured fractions of Pbq+ ions for q=1 - 8 in terms of a simple model based on an independent electron description. copyright 1999 American Institute of Physics
