Magnetic polarons in the Hubbard model with intersite interactions

  • 1. Landau Inst. for Theoretical Physics, Kosygina 2, Moscow GSP-117940 (USSR)

Description

This paper discusses a possible formation of magnetic polarons and bipolarons of small sizes in copper oxides in the framework of the Hubbard model. The long-range Coulomb interaction prevents the phase separation and stabilizes bipolarons. Magnetic bipolarons have an orbital momentum perpendicular to copper-oxide planes. They can produce a superconducting state. A small concentration of such polarons is sufficient to suppress antiferromagnetism. Exchange interaction of polarons imitates the Pauli paramagnetism
