The relation between engineering studies at the University of Mining and Metallurgy and coal, energy, and environment

The paper discusses the postwar development of the University of Mining and Metallurgy as a training center for Ostrava's industry and the economic reconstruction of the region and its impact on the character of the University. The Ostrava region is famous for its concentration of industries that consume large amounts of energy. The energy conservation efforts which must take place will require the University to train technologists and economists for the future.
