Description

Since Cyclotron and Radioisotope Center (CYRIC) was established as a multipurpose facility at Tohoku University in 1977, various experimental studies in a wide range of research fields including nuclear physics, nuclear engineering, ion beam analysis, nuclear pharmacy and nuclear medicine, etc. have been conducted using the cyclotron (Model 680; Sumitomo Heavy Industries (SHI)). In 2000, we upgraded the accelerator to a larger cyclotron (Model 930; SHI), and have expanded the research fields at CYRIC with higher energy proton beams and many kinds of heavy ion beams. In this paper, we would like to introduce some of the main studies which have been carried out over the past decades using the Model 680 and 930 cyclotrons. (author)
