Effect of Capture Material During Neutron Therapy

Creators

  • 1. A.E.C, Cairo (Egypt)

Description

The experiments carried out by the author showed that the dose calculated in normal brain (that includes a host of 40 elements) gave a value equal to 45.03x10-'2 Gy/min. Whereas, the dose given by Boron-10 as a capture is equal to 2.78 Gy/min. i.e. 86% of the total dose rate (3.23 Gy/min.). The value 2.78 Gy/min. is due to the nuclear interaction between thermal neutrons and B-10 as a capture material. It was found that the dose delivered to the tumour due to the capture material is 6.17 times the dose imparted to the tumour free of capture material
