Seebeck-driven transverse thermoelectric generation

Description

There has been increasing interest in transverse thermoelectric generation, with the aim of investigating its physical mechanisms and realizing versatile energy harvesting and heat sensing applications. Recently, many experimental and theoretical studies on transverse thermoelectric generation have focused on the anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) in magnetic materials. Here,we propose and demonstrate a transverse thermoelectric effect conceptually different from ANE: Seebeck-driven transverse thermoelectric generation, which appears in a hybrid system consisting of magnetic and thermoelectric materials. The artificial hybridization of the Seebeck effect in the thermoelectric material into the anomalous Hall effect in the magnetic material enables transverse thermoelectric generation with a similar symmetry to ANE, significantly enhancing transverse thermopower.
