Communication Received from Germany Concerning its Policies regarding the Management of Plutonium. Statements on the Management of Plutonium and of High Enriched Uranium
Description
The Director General has received a note verbale dated 14 October 2010 from the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the IAEA in enclosures of which the Government of Germany, in keeping with its commitment under the Guidelines for the Management of Plutonium (contained in INFCIRC/5491 of 16 March 1998 and hereinafter referred to as the 'Guidelines'), and in accordance with Annexes B and C of the Guidelines, has made available annual figures for holdings of civil unirradiated plutonium and the estimated amounts of plutonium contained in spent civil reactor fuel as of 31 December 2009. The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has also made available a statement of its annual figures for holdings of civil high enriched uranium (HEU) as of 31 December 2009.
Abstract (French)
Le Directeur general a recu de la mission permanente de la Republique federale d'Allemagne aupres de l'AIEA une note verbale en date du 14 octobre 2010 accompagnee de pieces jointes dans lesquelles le gouvernement allemand, conformement a l'engagement qu'il a pris en vertu des Directives relatives a la gestion du plutonium (figurant dans le document INFCIRC/5491 du 16 avril 1998 et denommees ci-apres les ) et aux annexes B et C des Directives, communique les statistiques annuelles des quantites de plutonium civil non irradie et les quantites estimees de plutonium contenu dans du combustible irradie dans des reacteurs civils qu'il detenait au 31 decembre 2009. Le gouvernement allemand communique egalement les statistiques annuelles des quantites d'uranium civil hautement enrichi (UHE) qu'il detenait au 31 decembre 2009.
