CITON, as a technical and scientific support organization, can be considered one of the founding members of the Nuclear National Program of Romania. Starting with the decision on the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Romania, CITON has been involved in all activities concerning the choice of the reactor type, support for the development and implementation of nuclear legislation at national level, as well as the technological transfer and implementation of the CANDU reactor type project at Cernavoda.
