Charged particle detector of the ARES spectrometer
Description
A charged particle detector (C-detector) which is the main part of the ARES-spectrometer is described. The C-detector comprises 8 cylindric proportional chambers (PC) with the total number of signal filaments approximately 4000, a scintillation hodoscope placed into the magnetic field, PC electronics nanosecond logic, a specialized fast processor for data discrimination, a system of feeding the data into the ES-1040 computer, etc. The C-detector has been tested on the pion beam of the LNP JINR synchrocyclotron
