Laser induced fluorescence diagnostic for a multipolar discharge in argon plasma

  • 1. Equipe Turbulence Plasma, 13 - Marseille (France). Inst. Mediterraneen de Technologie

Description

We present preliminary results of a laser induced fluorescence diagnostic in a multipolar discharge in argon plasma for two configurations of the magnetic field. This diagnostic, based on the Doppler effect, allows us to measure the velocity distribution function profile of argon II ions in an absolute scale. The profile width at half height gives the ion temperature and the frequency shift of the maximum, when existing, shows the pressence of an ion drift. (orig.)
